Hunt test spring '02 Nick Ambulos The spring back-to-back hunt tests ran March 30 th and 31 st at the York Pointer and Setter Club, almost without a hitch. 36 hours before the event was to begin our bird supplier informed us that he would have no birds. Fortunately, we were able to find some quail, and enough chukar to allow us to run the event! Even though the event fell on Easter weekend, the entries for Saturday were outstanding, with 4 braces of master level dogs, 8 braces of senior level dogs and rounded out with 22 braces of juniors. Easter Sunday's entries were considerably smaller, but allowed us to get the event run before the rain set in. Both days we were treated to a visit by the local AKC field rep, who at the end of the event Sunday congratulated the club on a well-run event! My thanks to everyone who helped out that weekend, the Meyer's for all of their help in the field and in the clubhouse, Leo Fitzharris, Chris Ronnebaum, Steve Dattilio and everyone else involved in caring for the master and senior course. Judy Bobb once again took care of wrangling the horses and line marshalling. Finally, thanks to Kathie Bankert and Al Pilger for picking up the birds for us on Friday and helping serve up lunch on Saturday. Many thanks to our judges, Mike Anderson, Jane Gomprecht, Cheryl Swing, Cindy Stahle, apprentice Steve Dattilio and most of all Mike McCleary who was able to fill in last minute for Kent Smeltz who was out ill.
Look for the fall hunt test premiums to be out early to mid September. The fall hunt tests will be held Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20 th at the York Pointer and Setter club, and we are hoping to feature a pig-roast for that Saturday. As we hope this will increase the entries, please make sure that club members get their entries in early!!
Congratulations to all qualifiers, and especially to those who completed the legs necessary for their titles! Those qualifying are:
