Weimaraner Club of the Washington D.C. Area
We had 41 dogs (50 entries) competing in five stakes and a pleasant fall day for our trial. This was the field trial that almost did not happen… due to the sniper activity in the DC metropolitan area last fall. We want to thank the AKC and Gene Dagenhart for helping us relocate our trial two weeks before it was scheduled. Due to the sniper activity our grounds at McKee Bescher Wildlife Management Area had banned any recreational hunting activities. So the trial would have been cancelled except for the hard work of a few and the willingness of the AKC, our judges, and field trial committee to have a trial in spite of our unusual circumstances. We reduced the number of stakes and had a one-day trial at Indian Springs Wildlife Management Area in Clear Spring, MD. We had a great time! We want to thank the field trial committee: Jay Fleming, Pete Salerno, Cheryl Potter, Chris Ronnebaum, Shannon Mitchell, Virginia Alexander, Rob & Barbara Shreeve for all the hard work during the trial. We also want to thank our Judges who are listed in the following report with the results.
Open Gun Dog (9 starters) – Judges: Dick Teachout & Charlene Gibson
Open Limited Gun Dog (8 Starters) - Judges: Charlene Gibson & Ray Bowman
Open Derby (10 starters) - Judges: Dick Teachout & Nick Peelen
Amateur Gun Dog (10 starters) - Judges: Bob Seeleye & Dick Teachout
Open Puppy (12 starters) - Judges: Charlene Gibson & Mary Brown
